SUMMARY:

The CLAIMS is a new platform to manage payment investigations. These payment investigations are as a result of queries on payments that pass through Bank of America foreign exchange and Money Market systems. The old system stored data in the RIMAIN database on the VAX machine. In order to enhance the capacity and performance of the system, a new solution was proposed which uses a customised version of a third party payments software. This software runs on IBM pSeries enterprise servers under AIX. Oracle 8i database replaced the old RIMAIN database to store data.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Responsible for analysing existing data, documenting business rules and creating equivalent database tables to hold data from legacy system.
 Extracted data from the old system using SQL*loader and processed them into the new Oracle 8i database.
 Developed Stored Procedures to query Incoming and Outgoing SWIFT messages, Commission details, Foreign Exchange rates and Payment data through web based CRM application ( Database Size 350 GB, 200+ Users ).
 Used Dynamic SQL and Ref Cursors to build and execute queries dynamically.
 Wrote Unix Shell scripts to automate loading of data.
 Developed MQ-Oracle interface using PRO*C and MQ APIs to process Inbound and Outbound SWIFT messages.
 Enforced coordination between MQ and Oracle using two-phase commit.
 Implemented business rules using Integrity constraints and Database Triggers.
 Responsible for creating Indexes and Partitions to improve query performance.
 Used Export/ Import utilities to manage database changes.

SUMMARY:

Safeguard Oracle Database system was developed to compensate disadvantaged individuals owing to misselling of Pension schemes.

The key areas of functionality included:

 Contact Individuals: Mail to be sent via a daily batch runs and the letters to be sent varied in type depending upon the stage of attempted contact and the reason for contact.

 Stamp Initiation: It records an outcome against a representative, applies the business rules and determines whether or not a member had been disadvantaged in order to perform the compensation exercise.

 Manage Response and Payment: This process described what happened to safeguard inbound mail from the point of receipt through to form processing or written enquiry handoff. The system pulled up an individual?s details via the bar code on the form and recorded all the form details, subsequently scheduling a payment for the relevant individual. The initial task within payments processing was for the Compensation Manager to authorise all the payments prior to issue. Authorised payments were written to an electronic files and sent to the finance department, who would in turn issue the file to check pay and manage any reconciliation processing.

 Management & Administration: This included Response/Payments statistics and General maintenance of SOD data e.g. maintaining reason codes, event types etc.

 Membership( Vehicle and Home Insurance ): This module was developed to manage membership details encompassing entitlement of various products/schemes covering the member?s car, home or himself.

 Assistance: This module recorded assistance details; validated membership entitlement; selected the nearest service provider, and notified the service provider to assist a member. The system was also used to display membership details and incident history, local service provider maintenance and incident management.

 Billing & Invoicing: This module used cost components from incidents from the Assistance Module to charge clients, members and insurers. Cost components included Purchase Orders and Bills from service providers. Purchase Orders were estimated from bills produced from historical averages and this module on a permanent basis maintained both orders and bills. Charges included Sales Orders and Sales Invoices.
