IT Manager
I am an IT all-rounder and have experience of running all aspects of a large IT department. From managing and providing support to design and configuration of specialist IT/Comms systems, I can quickly lean new systems and identify requirements. I have been security cleared to SC:SECRET and CTC level.
Since joining the IT industry, I have always been involved with supporting
and managing very leading edge systems. Although mainly in the Vehicle
Tracking and Law Enforcement sectors, I have grown from a junior support
role to someone who is capable of the design, implementation and
management of very large, critical information systems.
I believe that this has been borne-out by the recent development and
integration of the Fleetstar Online system
which is the latest generation of online vehicle tracking and routing
systems. By ensuring that a good team surrounded me, I delivered this
project to very tight deadlines whilst liasing with international
suppliers and regulatory bodies under extreme commercial pressure.
While systems design and management are my core areas of expertise, I am
very much an IT all-rounder and enjoy getting my hands dirty. I can lend
my hand to most aspects of IT and have significant experience of NT Server
admin, GPRS, GSM, Goldmine, RADIUS, TCP/IP, SQL Server, PBX Management,
CTI and Windows Support I have had a large amount of exposure to the
Project Management and Customer Service requirements of large IT projects
and feel I can move easily between very technical and customer-facing
roles. All the systems I have managed required a large amount of
management and support, as customers tend to use them for their core
information requirements. This has required strong management of my teams
to ensure that SLAs regarding support were met at all times, and that
customer satisfaction and issue resolution was completed to target.
I have used the knowledge gained from previous employment and systems to
move from a totally technical position to one from which I can manage a
specialist team and ensure that all systems are available and fully
supported at all times. As someone who has spent most of his working life
dealing with high-value load tracking and covert surveillance IT systems,
I am very aware of the need for system security and integrity of data.
My last employer?s acquisition of a Swedish technology company allowed me
to prove to myself that I am capable of communicating effectively at
international board level and with a diverse range of partners. During
this time, I managed an integration project which ran across Sweden,
Norway and Germany and required my team to provide support to all these
countries from the UK. This resulted in the development of a European
support team based in the UK, using existing CRM and Helpdesk systems to
cover all products and services gained as part of the acquisition.
I feel that my realistic approach to tasks and projects ensures that they
are always delivered on time and to budget. I am not afraid to explain to
Directors and board members when I feel that a particular decision is not
technically viable or commercially feasible. Having said that, I am very
sympathetic to the commercial pressures which drive all organisations and
the need for due-diligence and accountability at all times.
I consider myself to be a very hard and conscientious worker and immerse
myself fully in any position that I enjoy. Although quite outgoing, I
conduct myself professionally at all times and feel that I make a good
addition to any hard-working team.

April 2000 ? May 2003 IT Manager CybIT Ltd. / CybIT Holdings Plc.
I joined this Telematics and Online Services company at its inception and have watched the organisation grow from a limited company of three people, to a PLC with over fifty employees, spread over three sites in two countries. Managing leading-edge systems which rely on the latest IT and comms developments, I have been fortunate in having the ability to develop my people and business management skills whilst retaining the hands-on technical input I thrive on. This role has allowed me to become more customer-facing, managing SLAs and customer expectations. I feel that this role has given me the non-technical experience I require to enhance my skill-set and move to a more secure organisation, in which I can build a long-term career.

October 1997 ? June 1999 Information Systems Manager Stand Alone Technology Ltd.
I was originally procured to design & project manage a Vehicle Tracking Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) Call Centre in Malaysia. During the 6 months I was on this project I liased closely with global partners including Philips and NEC, where I gained a great deal of knowledge of supplier-relations. I was responsible for ensuring that the Malaysian project team met their goals and targets, and also managed the team remotely from the UK. Managed a team of 8.
After this project was cut-short due to the South East Asian economic crisis, I consulted in New Zealand and assisted with the design of a Vehicle Tracking Call Centre. I then consulted to Irish Mobile Network Eirecell?s company ?Telecom Phonewatch?, regarding the conversion of their existing Emergency Central Station to handle Vehicle Tracking and Control systems. Managed teams of 2 and 3.
My knowledge of IT-based security systems allowed me to move into the field of covert surveillance and control systems. I worked closely with a number of UK Police Forces and law enforcement agencies, to plan and manage high-security IT systems. Managed a team of 5.
