Scope of Work for UVS / Cansco

Majority of my time was in the daily running of the IT department. For Cansco Greig Engineering which involved the smooth running of all 80 terminals along with network file servers. Duties ranged from simple repairs to system build to complete department change-outs.

Also through UVS Computer Systems I was sub-contracted to a diverse range of clients in their computing activities on both an ad-hoc and maintenance agreement basis on-call 24 hours a day seven days a week.
The work involved advising numerous existing and potential clients on Hardware and Software requirements to suit their current and future needs. The subsequent installation / configuration, training and ongoing support, both tele and or on-site.
The work being very diverse in nature has included network design and cable installation routine hardware / software installation and configuration, bespoke software programming to suit individual company requirements fault diagnosis and remediation, Virus prevention and removal. Web page design, Programming and Uploading and Training. Further duties include setting up supplier agreements for just in time deliveries for out of hour deliveries as well as the general daily orders being placed.

Management Services / IT Support Specialist.

The work was very varied and included assisting in creation and implementation of British Standards ISO 9002 systems, Managing Procurement and setting up manual / computerised Material Control Systems. Acted as company focal point on all IT matters. Evaluated and procured all Hardware and Software for In-house use. Designed and installed local area network for 80 users using Ethernet -TCP/IP designed and designed / built / installed file server and client workstations again for all 80 users. Trained in-house staff in the use of a variety of software including Microsoft Office 97 then retrained up to Office 2000 / XP, Windows 3.1 / 95, 98 then retrained to Windows 2000 along with Sage Accounting software.
Assisted in design / programming and implementing Cost Monitoring System which tracked all Material and Labour costs attributable to each project using Microsoft Access.
