Software Engineer

Dear Sir/Madame

I am developer who has been working in the industry for 7 years now. I have had a wide range of experience using VC++ and VB to develop and deliver solutions for a range of needs.

I have been working with my current employer for 6 years now, and I feel it is now time for me to find a new area with which to expand my horizons. I have primarily worked in the GIS arena for the past 6 years but it has helped me to expand my skills as a developer and as a consultant, working face to face with clients on projects. In addition I have worked on large and complex projects helping to deliver functionality and flexibility in the code I have written and products I have deployed.

I am looking for a developers position similar to that of my current one here, covering VC++ and VB development, I am a quick study so if there are other technologies that would be applicable to a vacancy, I would be able to rise to any interesting challenges.

SIA Limited is a small software house, which primarily deals in software centred on a Geographical Information System (GIS) called dataMap. Work includes writing links to third party systems, Development of support applications and also research & development. Client led development involves face-to-face consultation and deployment. The role also encompasses first line support for developed software. Primarily development centres on Visual C++, where I help to develop and extend the core products digital mapping functions and facilities, this is taken further by being involved in specifying and defining the specifications of their next generation GIS application ?MapViewer?. As for the Visual Basic development this covers a wide range of applications from, simple to use wizard-based applications for end users, to detailed data management and processing software for analysis of large data sets, e.g. accident analysis systems. GIS related standards that I am familiar with include Ordnance Survey data, ArcView/Shape, MapInfo/Mif, OpenGIS, NLUD, NLPG. These are really just a taste of the sector in general.

Interlink was a medium sized firm, which was centred around providing banks with software which enable them to control ATM functions and also connect to banking networks, e.g. Visa/MasterCard/American Express. Unix based development, using C and Pascal
