Business Intelligence Specialist

 

I am very interested in work as a Cognos/Business Intelligence specialist. I have over 20 years experience in IT,including Programming, Systems Analysis, Project Management, IT Management and Consultancy. I have been working with Cognos products for over 5 years and I enjoy this area of work more than any other in IT. I am based in Southport which is ideal for covering the North West region, although with a now grown up family I am free to work anywhere in the UK.

2002 -    Premier Paper
Business Systems Manager

Responsible for a 200 User base installation of JBA System 21 at Premier Paper, a National Paper Merchant. The Company has 20 branches throughout the UK, with distribution hubs in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Dagenham. Premier offer a next day delivery service on a vast range of Office and Commercial print papers. I have been heavily involved in E-Business projects using Intercept 400 and Web based products such as Microsoft Biztalk. I have also implemented a Company wide Business Intelligence system using COGNOS software. This project covered Sales Analysis, Financials, Stock Analysis, and Sales Ledger. This was very much a hands on project in which I coded data extracts in RPG, developed the Iqd?s and Transformer models. Developed standard reports across each area and trained 50 Users. I subsequently upgraded to Version 7 and rolled out Upfront and Powerplay Web Reporting.
1999 - 2002   Fromtline Consultancy
Project Manager

In 1999 I joined Frontline Consultancy and Software Services Ltd as a Project Manager. Responsible for IT projects from £10k up to £250k. I also acted as a pre-sales consultant for Frontlines ERP package ?INFORM? and their CRM package ?COMPLAINT MANAGER?. Whilst at Frontline I attended COGNOS training courses and developed several Business Intelligence applications for Frontlines clients. These included clients in the following Industries. Horticulture Supplies, Television Rental, Heavy Gearbox Distribution, Coin Control Manufacturing, Oil Industry Supplies, Food Manufacture and Board Manufacturing.
1994 - 1999   Carrington Group
Information Systems Manager

Responsible for the Information systems of the Carrington Group. The company has four sites two in the UK, one in France and one in Germany. The hardware consists of an AS400 F35 running bespoke software developed by an in house team of 6, together with several bought in packages. It also includes two Windows NT Server based PC LANs.
I currently am a member of the Carrington Executive team reporting directly to the Managing Director.
1989 - 1994   Standish Company
Systems Manager

Responsible for all aspects of computing at the Standish Company a Textile manufacturing business. Supervising a staff of one Analyst Programmer and one trainee programmer developing manufacturing systems. These consisted of Raw material and Finished Stocks, Production Monitoring and Planning, Works Orders, Quality Control and Laboratory systems.

Senior Analyst Programmer

Working with one Analyst Programmer at the Standish Company developing the manufacturing systems. Experience gained in full Systems Development Lifecycle from initial interviews through to system sign off.
