IT Trainer
Worked in the banking industry for 18 years, due to redundancy I took a career change and entered further education, at Reid Kerr College, and obtained an HNC in Computer Applications. From there I worked for Prudential Assurance as a Support Analyst, and again entered into further education and went to Paisley University, and graduated in November 2001 with a BSc in Business Information Technology. Took a 6 months temporary post as a Systems Developer with Glasgow City Council. Went on to teach adults with learning dificulties IT skill. I am an enthusiastic learner always keen to achieve new skills, hard working and have a firm grasp of quality and how to meet the business needs. I'm a team player, but can also work on my own initiative.
Skill Profile
Adaptability:
My work experience demonstrates my ability to work successfully in different work environments and to get on with people from all walks of life. I can work on my own or as part of a team.
Communication:
I have excellent communication skills, and I am a clear communicator dealing with colleagues, business users at all levels and external parties.
Achiever:
I enjoy seeing work through to the end and have a firm grasp of quality to meet the business needs and I work with that in mind.
Responsibility:
I enjoy responsibility and empower myself to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Commitment:
I am committed in my work, often working long hours to provide my best efforts for my employer. My work is of a very high standard and is well planned. I am determined and conscientious about my work or any project I may be involved in. As part of my Degree I worked at Compaq where I designed at Database to replace a manual process, which had been in place for 20 years. Project Management duties where very much part of this project.
I also set-up a training course for the prototype to let the staff know how the new system would work and look. I arranged all aspects of the training course, the material, booking rooms, contacting Managers to arrange staff to attend these training sessions. It was a great learning curve for me, and I enjoyed it very much. I was like a Project Manager and had the backing of Management to carry out my tasks. I was involved in every process from the analysis and design to the implementation stages of the Database and the training.

Core objectives of my role as Support Analyst were to collate and analyse information from the work in progress and subsequently report the effects on performance and productivity to the Management Team. I collated and analysed information from the Regional Service Centres about budgetary issues and productivity, and calculated statistics using packages such as Access and Excel. I provided support to the other members of the Operations Support Team, to establish an effective Quality Assurance and information service. I planned and managed projects, collating and evaluating information following briefing from Managers, and reporting the findings and providing recommendations in formal/informal reports, including, forms, spreadsheets and flowcharts as required.
