During the year out of my sandwich course degree in Computer Studies I completed an enjoyable 13 month placement at Panasonic, where I was employed as a technical support administrator. I developed a wide variety of technical skills, including the ability to diagnose network, PC and printer faults, make data cables, patch cables into hubs and switches and assign new IP addresses to network devices. I also built PCs and images and administrated Novell and MS servers and its users. Support was largely on a 1st and 2nd line basis, although the last 6 months of the placement involved a fair share of 3rd line support. Day-to-day administration involved working in a team of 4 technical support staff and a helpdesk member responsible for taking calls. In the last month of the placement I was responsible for training and providing a work plan for the replacement student. Projects undertaken on the placement included upgrading over 400 PCs to comply with Mainframe to Oracle server migration and maintaining the company website.
1997 -    McDonalds Restaurant PLC
Training Squad - Since the age of 16 I have worked part-time at McDonalds to manage my finances through college and university. My employment has given me the opportunity to develop myself in a very busy working environment. Tasks involve cooking, cleaning and training new staff, whilst following procedures and giving 100% customer satisfaction. However, when managers are not present I take initiative in running the kitchen, which means I get the chance to supervise a group of people and make independent decisions.
