1998 - 2002   Prudential
I initially joined the Scottish Amicable team as a trainee IT Support Analyst, I was initially involved in supporting hardware and software for the third party company St James Place and providing first and second level support for the Scottish Amicable Illustrations software package throughout the business. Following several restructures and promotions in my time in support, the role broadened to give me the systems training and the experience I detailed above. This included looking after the complete infrastructure of our call center in Glasgow hosting 120 users.
My job demanded that I have a wide understanding of the various components of our IT infrastructure and telephony, a sound knowledge of the business and the applications that support our range of products. With a customer base of approximately 2500, this was a varied and challenging role. I was also responsible for defining team processes, creating and improving documentation, managing and participating in IT projects, ensuring that agreed service levels are met and deputising for my team manager in her absence.
1996 - 1998   Prudential
As a Customer Service Consultant dealing directly with customer enquiries, claims and policy issues I was required to have an understanding of complex underwriting and claims terms and processes. During this time I spent a 3 month secondment into the Customer Liaison area. Managing customer complaints in line with the Insurance Ombudsman and Prudential procedures and standards.
1995 - 1996   Sky TV
Being part of a large organisation this role as a Customer Services Consultant in the call centre demanded that I understand the needs of the customer and the organisation.
1990 - 1999   Makerston House
Working as a member of a close team in a family business, I was involved with all aspects of the running of the business. Working both full time and part time over a period of 9 years I was involved in organising events, managing customers, dealing with suppliers and accounts. Working in the kitchen, bar and restaurant involved hard work, organisation and good sense of fun.
602 -    Prudentual
Working within the service Implementation function I work along side software development or technical Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that new releases, enhancements or infrastructure changes meet acceptance criteria and can be supported within agreed Service Levels and costs. This includes ensuring that the appropriate testing is carried out, documentation is completed and signed off, new processes and procedures are in place, service levels are agreed, business continuity arrangements considered and all security requirements have been met. In my time in SI I have been involved in a number of projects including application enhancements, implementation of new software services, the replacement of two ISDX telephone switches with a single switch and the move of our Unix servers and Mainframe to a third party site. I?m currently working on the roll out of ADSL connections to our remote dialup users.
