Following the reorganisation of Sun's internal IT division and the outsourcing of Oracle applications database support, I was moved to a team with a shortage of DBA knowledge to ensure that issues arising with Sun's global datawarehouse systems were resolved promptly. This function has increased my knowledge of the oracle product as the warehouses utilise areas such as table partitioning and partitioned indexing. In addition this role has required me to have a greater understanding of all Sun's internal databases due to the

Support of Brio report creation
Monitoring and Correction of source system feeds to the global warehouse/finance warehouse
Database/Server performance monitoring
Problem resolution
Security and Housekeeping
Creation of troubleshooting/user documentation
Creation of ad hoc repeats using SQL

2001 - 2003   Sun Microsystems
Following the successful completion of many projects in my previous role I decided I wanted to further my knowledge of the Oracle Applications tool set. An opportunity arose for an Applications Analyst and I accepted the offer. In this role I have furthered my understanding of Sun?s corporate finance division, as this encompassed all components of my Apps DBA function, with the addition of day-to-day user support.

1999 - 2001   Sun Microsystems
In 1999 Sun Microsystems? Professional Services division took the decision to implement Oracle Project Accounting across its global business. I was chosen by senior management to head the DBA duties for the project that involved the rollout of Oracle applications R11.0.3

Implementation of PA 11.0.3
Plan and order system hardware
Disaster recovery planning
Application patching
System configuration
Cloning environments
Configuration of self service web
Installation and customisation of BMC patrol for Oracle Applications

Set-up of application to run on Solaris and PC clients
1997 - 1999   Sun Microsystems
n September 1997 Sun Microsystems internal IT division underwent a complete restructure of support. As part of this restructure, all of the DBA duties previously covered by individual support teams was now centralised into an Infrastructure group. It was decided, by senior management, that I would be suited to such a position and was offered promotion that I duly accepted.

I was employed into this roll from Sun Microsystems? Education business due to my in-depth knowledge of both the European business process and how the in-house application was used in conjunction with the IT tools.
