Desktop Support Engineer

 

I am a qualified IT professional, with over 3 years desktop support experience.

So far I have been doing mostly 1st Line support & Administration, but I am looking for a 2nd line role where I can develop my skills further on the server support side.

I have good problem solving & communication skills, well used to liasing with customers & other IT staff.

Providing 1st and 2nd Line support to desktop & mobile users on WinNT, Win2000, Novell Netware, Office 97 & Office 2000. Supporting 15,000 users on approx 8 domains and 2 NDS trees at over 10 sites, using SMS and Netop remote tools. Vantive System is used to log & manage calls. I am escalation point for out of SLA call chases, liasing with each of the onsite desktop team leaders and updating users on the status of calls. I am also on the admin team, providing administrative tasks, ie: creating/disabling accounts in Active Directory / Exchange Administrator & User manager, creating user groups, distribution lists & team mailboxes
2001 - 2002   Diversey Lever
Providing 1st line support to PC and laptop users on NT4, MS Office 97 and Lotus Notes. Main duties included taking telephone calls and problem solving, using Netmeeting to dial in, visiting the user or talking through with remote users. Logging calls on Lotus notes & managing calls. Other duties included booking hardware calls for laptops & printers, chasing calls, rebuilding machines using Ghost disks, configuring new Outlook accounts, installing software, patching network points, office moves and auditing NT, RRAS & Outlook accounts.
1999 - 2001   Cosworth Technology
Responsible for Administration in two departments, Development & Calibration, duties included recording and updating personnel information, including holidays taken and booking yearly appraisals for staff. Reading mail /keeping diaries /minute meetings /filing for Managers. Ordering office equipment, chasing orders & passing invoices for payment. I kept a database of all items purchased by the department & updated the budgets on a monthly basis. I also helped organise the Christmas Party for two years running & got involved with other company events outside of my duties.
