Software and Hardware Test Engineer

During my 2 years at NDS I have gained valuable experience in a leading engineering company and used a variety of tools and gained valuable skills. I have used Mecury Test Director to write test scripts as well as using this software to log test performed , Rational ClearQuest to raise faults found on software and verifying fixes. I have developed in-house software compiling application using Visual C++, hardware flashing utilities using ST20 technologies to program motherboards of set top boxes. I have a broad range of abilities which are not restricted to programming and would like to further my career as a Test Engineer, writing test scripts and possibly going into a management role in the future. I would like to further my education at some stage and possibly do a masters as I enjoy learning new things which can only make me a better engineer.

Able to setup streams to emulate real time Digital Satellite scenarios, in order to test the functionality on the Set Top Boxes. Such as Conditional Access, Parental Lock and Pay Per View this is done using a mixture of Windows and UNIX programs. Developed the scripts and a windows application( using Visual C++) for an in-house Cross Platform Software compiler used on 10 worldwide broadcasters and over 40 set top boxes Using test Tools for tracking software defects in Rational ClearQuest Writing Test scripts on Mercury Test Director to be performed on Set Top Boxes, testing functionality based on requirements specification with the intention of stress testing the box. *Using Version Control Software to obtain source files to create specific software for test on embedded middleware for low level test

The Main Phone switchboard answering phone calls for 3 Jobcentres in the area and directing then to relevant departments. I also worked on the job broking which involved finding work for people and signing people on. *Filling records and updating data in the LMS computer database. The job introduced me to the working life of an office environment, working with people on a regular basis and being part of a team that worked very efficiently and the team achieved an award during my stay for efficiency in getting people into jobs.
2000 - 2000	Sign A Rama
The designing of signs by liasing with the customer then recreating the requirement on computer Production of a variety of signs varying in sizes. From the computer to a finished product. Designing involved discussing with clients the features, which were needed in their signs, and then designing based on what was capable within the tools available. Using own initiative the development of documentation to use the large scale digital printer with the ability of converting any digital image (Photoshop, coral, JPEG)into a poster of any size to a first class quality Tools that were used were a vinyl plotter, a digital printer to create signs and posters. Professional vinyl software was used to render images for posters and transfer photographic images into something that could be plotted, these programs had to be used to a high level to create quality signs which were stringently checked by companies
