Simon is an experienced IT professional with 15 years experience in the IT industry across a number of business sectors from Local Government through to large commercial organisations.

Simon?s current role is as a Focused Service Owner with ITNET where he acts as a specialist in e-business and Applications Solutions Design for bids to new and existing outsourcing customers across a number of service lines. Simon takes overall ownership of the technical solution and co-ordinates the solution from a commercial and contractual viewpoint to ensure is fits with the sales strategy and meets the requirements of the customer.

Simon also has strong experience in Service Delivery Management, particularly in the Applications space. He also has experience of ITIL best practice and has passed the ITIL foundation qualification. In Simon?s roles in this area, he has managed revenue streams of up to £3.5m per annum.

Simon?s main strengths are his commercial and communication skills coupled with a strategic knowledge of technology issues facing companies. He is able to communicate complex technical and commercial issues to audiences from board level through to technical staff, to ensure that the solution and its costs, are understood by all. He is also comfortable presenting solutions to customers and staff and has great enthusiasm and credibility in building relationships with them.


My current basic is 44,500 p.a. with 6,400 p.a. car allowance. I am currently home based and have flexible work patterns. I am willing to travel as part of my role.

Simon?s current role requires him to act as product specialist on all disciplines offered by ITNET?s e-business practise. The role requires Simon to act as a pre-sales consultant, detailing the capabilities of the practise to customers and sales teams and this requires a good working knowledge of e-business and application development technologies. Particular areas of specialism for Simon include Content Management Solutions, Smart Enterprise Suites and the impacts of the Disability Rights Act on e-business solutions.

January 2003 to December 2003: Solutions Sector Manager, Solutions Division ? ITNET
Simon was responsible for new business pre-sales and proposition development for ITNET?s Solutions Division. This role was key in supporting the commercial sales teams identify and win new business. In this role Simon acted as a Solutions Design Authority for any new bid, overseeing the solution across disciplines from desktop services and network design to applications management and development. Bids have involved technologies as diverse as Citrix, Oracle Real Application Clusters through to Microsoft Content Management Server 2003. Simon is able to understand and articulate these complex technical solutions enabling him to communicate with customers and colleagues alike. Commercial values for these bids ranged from £50k to £20m.

March 2002 to December 2002: Regional Service Manager, Applications Outsourcing, Solutions Division ? ITNET
Reporting into the Head of Solutions Division, Simon was responsible 5 customers and approximately 50 staff across a number of business sectors. He provided managerial support and input to the Application Managers, Project Managers and Consultants he had working for him on each account, in addition to managing the contract, costs, revenue and contribution across his region. Due to the diverse locations and disciplines across his team, Simon managed by exception and allowed his delivery teams to work within a delivery framework governed by objective setting and adherence to standards. During this period, Simon managed the Due Diligence process during the take on of an application services team as part of a large outsourcing deal

January 2002 to February 2002: Transition Consultant (Seconded), End User Computing Division ? ITNET
A part of a Transformation Programme to move from one contract to another at an existing ITNET customer, Simon designed and co-ordinated a new service to accurately manage the customer?s hardware and software assets.


December 2001 to January 2002: Technical Client Manager (Seconded) ? Infrastructure Services, ITNET
Simon was offered an opportunity to use his wide range of technical and management skills on a short-term assignment to resolve a complex system performance issue for an ITNET customer. Simon created a team of recognised experts from around the business and using project methodologies, drove forwards a programme to identify the root causes of the performance issues and redesigned the technical architecture to resolve the problem.

February 1999 to December 2001: Service Delivery Manager, Solutions Division ? ITNET
Simon was responsible for the delivery and management of ITNET?s Application Management and Project Management service at the Law Society. Simon?s key role was to manage programmes of work for the Law Society using multiple project managers. Many of these projects had a high profile within the Law Society and Simon was able to drive these programmes forward using standard project methodologies and excellent customer facing skills.

In addition, Simon was responsible for the management of Applications Management teams across three Law Society sites providing development and support services, mainly on Oracle platforms but also involving Visual Basic, ASP and Java. This was a new contract for ITNET in 1999 and as Simon was involved from the outset, he was able to put the relevant processes and management controls in place to ensure the accurate delivery of services within a Service Level Agreement. The role also included management of the team?s costs and profitability.

Also, during his time at the Law Society, Simon was successful in winning additional business for ITNET from a competitor. This was achieved by understanding the business and technological issues facing the Law Society and presenting this in a solution with a strong service management ethos.

January 1998 to February 1999: Team Leader ? ITNET PC Applications Team
Simon was responsible for development and support of several different software products delivered to companies such as Birmingham City Council, Camelot, Coca-Cola and the Northern Ireland Civil Service. This involved identification of business and system requirements from clients; managing the solution from specification to implementation and sign-off; management and control of maintenance and development schedules across the team and technical consultancy and support. The size of the team Simon managed varied from 3 to 7, dependant on active project work.

September 1996 to January 1998: Senior Analyst Programmer ? Siemens Business Services
As a recognised technical expert, Simon designed and oversaw development of a time recording system for use in-house, whilst maintaining responsibility for the support of other client software. Other projects included design of a testing suite for an in-house help-desk application, project management of a desktop audit exercise for a large local authority and design of complex software for use in card-reading machines.

Using his experienced gained from working in the Local Government Housing sector, Simon provided business and technical consultancy to the Association on the implementation and development of a Housing Management system.
1987 - 1996   Coventry City Council
September 1987 to September 1996: Analyst Programmer ? Coventry City Council
As an analyst programmer, Simon worked on development projects for Poll/Council Tax collection, Housing Management, Social Services and Direct Labour Operations, specialising in PC based applications. Large projects involved design, development and implementation of systems to monitor Housing Rent Arrears, Benefit Overpayment and Schedules of Rates for Housing repair work.
