Reported to the Technical Services Manager and managed up to 18 subordinates. Managed the project to merge three UK Data Centres into one location. This was successfully completed on schedule, achieving annual cost savings in excess of �1m. It required management of multiple ?threads? using internal resource and various suppliers. Managed multiple concurrent projects, such as Year 2000 compliance, Disaster Recovery improvement, Operating System upgrades, Support Team consolidation. Defined, developed, implemented and managed a risk management and reporting process. Integrated TP & DB systems programming team within the OS/390 team, enabling cost saving by not filling a team leader vacancy. This was later expanded to include, Automation and Capacity Planning Teams. Improved processes to maintain system software to vendor supported levels and significantly reduce change failure rate. This enabled many changes to be implemented without the expense of on-site staff. Managed the resolution of critical problems. One of which required the design and development of a unique forward data recovery approach for a critical application after weeks of data corruption. Implemented disaster recovery improvements across all platforms, which enabled a consistent documented recovery process. Implemented mainframe type process improvements within the midrange team which produced significant availability improvements. Defined and procured hardware and software to meet Business application requirements and enable the implementation of new applications.
1989 - 1992	Thesaurus Computer Services
Fulfilled the Technical Services Manager position for two years at one customer site. During this period saved the customer �0.5mpa in software licences costs and developed one of their own staff to become their TSM. Developed and presented various technical training courses which generated revenue for The company.
1984 - 1989	Synapse Computer Services
Reported to a Company Director and managed up to 30 subordinates Performed systems programming tasks, including ?green field? installation, VM/VSE to MVS conversion, performance tuning, training, problem resolution. All performed at 70+ sites across the UK. Managed Customer accounts and a team of up to twenty staff.
