Senior Implementation Manager August 2003 - Present

  • Head of a team of three Implementation Managers delivering a programme of projects for Liffe Market Solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring that reports conform to project reporting, risk, budgetary, management and change control standard procedures.
  • Provide technical assist to staff throughout the projects.
  • Ensure across all projects that individual decisions fit with the overall programme of work.
  • Projects managed by the team members included:
  • Eurodollar Contract Launch onto Liffe Connect
  • Lisbon Derivatives exchange migration to Liffe Connect Trading
  • Belgacom IPO Launch on the Belgium exchange
  • The delivery of a common market data distribution system for all Euronext exchanges.
  • Enhancements to the Liffe Connect Environment to increase the maximum trading hours for Euronext markets.
  • Solely responsibility for some projects. Producing Project Plans, Bills of Materials, Budgets and budget management, Highlight reports, Implementation Strategies, Implementation Approaches, Upgrade documents and manage the ?Go Live? process for these projects.
  • Projects solely responsible for included:
  • Migration of the secondary data centre (450+ production machines) from London to Paris.
  • Optimised Connect trading host for the Euronext Markets.
  • The migration of a client?s production environment from Paris to Chicago, which involved over 200 production machines.



    Implementation Manager April 2000 ? August 2003

  • Responsible for the project management and delivery of implementation plans, technical budgets, Technical Implementation Strategy and production upgrades for a number of large scale projects.
  • Connect Euronext Migration project ? A £26 million project which would migrate the Euronext Belgium & French derivative markets to integrate with the London markets. Completed in three phases delivering new system functionality, connect to a new settlement partner (Clearnet ? Clearing 21) and then migrating the Euronext markets.
  • Market Touch ? a Client project to produce a lightweight connect environment to compete with the London Stock Exchange.
  • Connect 5.1 ? Delivery of a major functional release of the connect platform for both the financials and equities London markets.
  • Commodities market transition project ? The objective was to migrate the Liffe commodities market from pit trading to Liffe Connect. Project included the closure of the pit floor and decommissioning of the floor support systems
  • Introduction of Universal Stock Futures ? A new style of Future product with new functionality changes for the Liffe Connect environment.

  • Responsible for the initiation of projects for the International Petroleum Exchange, London Clearing House, LIFFE?s Product Development and Sales departments.
  • Ensure that all projects are correctly cost justified, managed and given the appropriate prioritisation.

    Senior System Architect Feb 1998 ? June 1999

  • Project manager, within the architecture department, responsible for the IT framework project. The objective of the project was to introduce standard project management and development processes across Liffe's IT department. Prince2 was select as the project management process and implemented throughout 1999.
  • Within the architecture team I was responsible for maintain the corporate system maps and data architecture used in systems migration from Floor based trading to the Connect automated trading platform.

  • Responsible for an initiative to implement an Architectural Framework for the development of all future applications. This task included defining policies and standards as well implementing OO technologies such as an ORB, CORBA event services, environment management tools, OO programme languages and an enhanced methodology.
  • This provided the backbone onto which a global order routing and trade capture process was to be implemented. The team played active roles in all Fleming's development projects from Project Management through to implementation. I was personally involved with Project Management, Planning, QA, Analysis, Prototyping and Testing. (Technologies used ORBIX, C++, Java, PowerBuilder, UNIX, NT, OMT Case Tool, Oracle, Configuration Management software)
  • In July 95, I was then given the role of Client Server Support Manager. This was a new team set-up specifically to be the centre of expertise for Three-Tiered Client Server Development. It acted as consultants to all projects at Flemings throughout the Project Lifecycle. I developed and presented an Architectural and Three-Tier Infrastructure training programme, in conjunction with our middleware suppliers.
  • My team's responsibilities include development and maintenance of the infrastructure tools, Implementing a Transitional Object Orientated Methodology, which took the best principles of OO methodologies and mapped them into the constraints of the companies Architecture and Methodology. This was produced in a multimedia format and distributed onto desktop.
  • In order to prove the methodology and the RAD lifecycle it incorporated, the team developed a prototype derivatives settlement system and object communication model. This exercise provided the platform for a project to implement a Global Derivatives Transaction Management application. The application we developed captures trades in composite instruments and creates the underlying transactions posting them to the settlement application. The application consists of a Powerbuilder front-end running on NT server, with C business logic and data servers running on HP Unix10 with an Ingres database.
  • 1991 - 1995   FDR UK LTD

  • As a member of FDR's initial PC Software Development team, I produced PC development Standards, defined and then evolved the PC development methodology. During this period I gained experienced in running parallel Client Server developments. These projects delivered an expert system for dealing with Credit Card Charge-backs and an application that aids the early detection of credit card fraud. Other PC applications developed during this period included one to produce reward payments, an Eftpos Terminal Management system and a PC based application to electronically capture credit card transactions. (Visual Basic Pro 3.0, OO Analysis & Design, Sybase, DB2, Access, Visual C++, SQL).
  • Managed a project to migrate a client from the companies? mainframe environment to another third party processors. This project involved a large amount of sensitive client liaison and comprehensive implementation planning. I developed a number of reports for the client, to use in the testing of the migrated financial data. (COBOL, SAS, Nomad, DB2)
  • Worked on a development to introduce three new credit card products, for a major high street bank, to the main transaction processing system. These products linked incentives to consumer spend. (COBOL, DB2)
